</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hence my desire to remember it through a song, and while Marley has dozens of songs that could well be considered hymns, my mind first remembers one of them, always the same, my favorite song of him, and one of my favorites from any musician: Redemption Song, a classic.</div><script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><br />

</script><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">The original version is really good, and I think it's better than the acoustic version that Bob Marley himself did.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">But there are others, because others have honored him or simply remembered through this song.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Such is the case of another legend, in particular of punk, but of all rock, as is Joe Strummer, a member of The Clash, which later formed another band called The Mescaleros</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Joe Strummer died in December 2002, but posthumously during 2003 he released the last Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros album, "Streetcore", including a fantastic version of Bob's classic.</div><br />
<iframe allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/F10tP5HIpaA?rel=0&showinfo=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">On that same posthumously released album, Strummer included a tribute to another Rock & Roll legend, Johnny Cash, a song composed for the veteran singer-songwriter entitled "Long Shadow."</div><script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><br />

</script><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Johnny Cash died in September 2003, almost 9 months after Strummer, at age 69, being an icon of country, gospel, rock & roll, and rockabilly.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">That same year, a box set of 5 CDs titled "Unearthed" would be released on the occasion of his death, where some of his best songs are reviewed, as well as a good number of songs and unpublished versions. Among them is a duet with Joe Strummer.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As many will know and others will have guessed, that theme is "Redemption Song", by the great Bob Marley.</div><br />

2 and a half years ago I went to see a concert in Roanoke, VA. I didn't know who The Sad Cobras were. At that point in time, I had never seen a local band that played the type of music that I listen to. I remember it probably took them 30 minutes to set up their faulty equipment, which included a Magnus chord organ. I was getting really excited watching them set up, because I love interesting equipment. They started their set by taping down a key on a synthesizer and letting it drone for a while, then went into the song "Gisella".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
From that point on I was having the time of my life. Every song they played, including a cover of "Young Turks," seemed perfect to me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since then I've seen them perform probably a dozen times, bought all of their records, made friends with them, recorded with them, and now I'm posting them on my blog. Three of the members are also in The Young Sinclairs. Like The Young Sinclairs (below), I've been dying to put them on this page since I created it, but I was waiting for the right time. Now they have a new full-length album out titled "No More Graves." It's probably one of the best records you'll hear this year, and I'm going to tell you about them first. You'll thank me for this.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm posting a zip file of three songs: Bernice, Bodycast, and My Fondest Memory. I think those songs give you a good perspective over what the album is like, but you'll have to buy the album to hear my two favorite songs "Infirmary Ghost," and "No More Graves."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Sad Cobras are one of my favorite bands period, regardless of knowing them or not. They are the most played artist on my Last.fm page, and have a lot of influence on the music I make today. I'm interested to hear what you think about them, so leave a comment... and don't forget to check out their Myspace page for more songs and buy their CD, they're going to be huge (its $8). Just last Saturday I saw them, and it was just as enthralling as the first time I saw them, except this time there were a lot more people, and about 3 or 4 people videotaping the performance. The only thing I could say during the entire show was "We are experiencing music history."</div>

I am alive, just losing my mind. I shall return tomorrow. Many thanks to those of you concerned about my possible death.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
See you in the morning.</div>

The Vera Violets are shoegaze band from Florida. I usually don't like to post the albums of small time bands that really benefit from every album sold, but I figure there are more people that are going to be turned on to this from my blog than there are people who are actually googling for these albums, trying not to pay for them. Please download the music, and if you like it, I bought the albums directly from the band for $5 each by messaging the guy over myspace. You could probably do the same.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The Last Kiss" is the first album, and "Sunshine Dust" is the second. If you're only going to get one, go for "Sunshine Dust." The song "Stars" from the video below is from that one, and it has 19 songs, as opposed to 9.</div>

but heres three great albums without all the proper formatting</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sloan - Smeared:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was Sloan's debut LP, from 1992. Here their early influences really show, sounding like a mix of Isn't Anything-era My Bloody Valentine, and Daydream Nation-era Sonic Youth. Two songs on here actually seem like direct ripoffs of Sonic Youth. "Two Seater" sounds just like "Silver Rocket" to me, and "500 Up" sounds like they're trying to make another "Teenage Riot." But the thing is "500 Up" is the only song that makes me feel as good as "Teenage Riot" on a sunny day. The opening track, "Underwhelmed" was called the 2nd best Canadian song of all time by Chart Magazine. This is really worth getting if you like MBV, or Sonic Youth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Olivia Tremor Control - Presents... Singles and Beyond:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ok, not a real album exactly. This was their 3rd full-length release, a collection of rarities that don't appear on the previous two LPs. There are a few great songs on here, like "Love Athena," but overall its not really great in my opinion. I was disappointed, but it's a must-have for any Olivia Tremor Control fan, of course.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Black Angels - The Black Angels EP:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the first release from the Austin, Texas based psychedelic drone rock band. This is one of the greatest rock bands that's around right now. This came out in 2005, I have their full-length, which was released last year... but they are one of my favorites, and up-and-coming, so I suggest you just buy that from their website. I don't want to rip them off too much, but you've got to hear this. AND THEY ARE ON TOUR RIGHT NOW! Maybe you can see them, I'm going tomorrow night :) They sound like The Velvet Underground, The Doors, and 13th Floor Elevators, but also with a modern twist... and even more vibe than The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It's hard to describe, just get it, love it, and buy their album.</div>
